Perú

I was born and raised in Lima, Perú, and always dreamed of get­ting to know what else the uni­verse had to offer. Since I was a lit­tle kid, I want­ed to become an archi­tect to build a beau­ti­ful home for my parents.

Ger­many

I got to get accept­ed into the best archi­tec­ture school in Ger­many, the Tech­ni­cal Uni­ver­si­ty of Munich. I start­ed to hear peo­ple men­tion­ing ​“design” as a profession.

Italy

To bet­ter under­stand what ​“design” was all about, I decid­ed to study for one year at the Politec­ni­co di Milano in Italy. My pas­sion piv­ot­ed. I became obsessed with graph­ic design leg­ends, fash­ion design­ers, and lit­er­a­ture on the top­ic of inten­tion­al change in busi­ness­es through design. 

Ger­many Pt.2

I free­lanced for a while until I land­ed a posi­tion as Media Design­er at Microsoft in Munich. Some time lat­er, some­thing quite unex­pect­ed hap­pened. It was a cold and ener­giz­ing Berlin night, and I was cel­e­brat­ing life with old friends from high school, when I sud­den­ly received a call from Andrej. I heard from some­one else that he was doing an MBA at Stan­ford. ​“I’m drop­ping out” he said to me ​“I’m co-found­ing a com­pa­ny and we may need help with design work.”

Sil­i­con Val­ley / Perú Pt.2

Fast for­ward to 2022. Lumos, the com­pa­ny co-found­ed by Andrej, is now 50-peo­ple big and grow­ing. We’re revamp­ing an entire indus­try with the mis­sion to make tech­nol­o­gy imme­di­ate­ly acces­si­ble to every­body, every­where. Although I work for a Sil­i­con Val­ley Com­pa­ny, I moved back to Perú to recon­nect with my fam­i­ly and cul­ture, and fig­ure out how to pos­i­tive­ly affect the design industry.

What’s Next

I love man­ag­ing change through design. It’s been my expe­ri­ence that, the big­ger the chal­lenge, the big­ger the poten­tial learn­ings. There­fore, I want to keep chal­leng­ing myself, keep get­ting out of my com­fort zone, and most impor­tant­ly, keep learn­ing from oth­ers to become a bet­ter human that serves com­mon good.
