Introducing the Louder Than Ten Workers’ Cooperative
In 2014, we set out on a mission to change the way we think about work, how it gets done, and who gets to have a say in it. We wanted to make sure digital workers had better working conditions and were more than cogs in a corporate machine. We’ve all been in those “cool” workplaces with a not-so-cool dose of #hustleculture. Yuck.
Our journey to cooperation
Fast forward to 2020, and we embarked on a journey to put our money where our mouth is and become a worker-owned cooperative. What’s that, you ask? It’s a company where the employees own it, everyone has a say, and we all make important decisions together. It’s democracy at work.
Why cooperatives are the best
You might be wondering why we took this path. Well, worker-owned cooperatives are awesome for several reasons:
- They’re more resilient during tough times
- They promote equal pay and job stability
- They’re more productive
- They boost worker satisfaction, trust, and commitment
What’s even cooler? They help us show our community what equity at work and people over profit can look like in real-time.
Meet the Louder Than Ten Workers’ Cooperative
So, here’s the big reveal: Louder Than Ten is now officially operating as the Louder Than Ten Workers’ Cooperative. Our founding members, Travis, Abby, and I, each have an equal vote on company decisions, share profits based on our contributions, and accumulate internal capital shares so the company will take care of us as workers when we’re ready to leave and sell our shares back. And we’re gearing up to grow and add more members who will have the same privileges. We think for most talented consultants, trainers, and support staff, joining a co-op is a much better option than being an employee or solo business owner. You get the benefits of ownership, power, and financial reward while distributing the stress, anxiety, and risk of running your own enterprise. We want to attract and retain the best people in the biz, and this is how we’re going to do it.
What it means for you
This shift means even better support, training, and advice for our clients and community. We’re making sure you get the best of the best. We’re also evolving our services to focus on consulting, coaching, and training entire teams for a more effective and lasting impact.
New look, same heart
With this change, we’ve got a fresh new logo and identity. It represents our solid, interconnected, and supportive cooperative spirit. You can even wear it proudly on some cool merch.
